Module 3: Issues on Human Development

On my own perspective, I am a product of both heredity and environment. I have the process of "nature" which biological maturation and inheritance occurred. The process of "nurture" was from the impact of the environment, which involves the process of learning through experience. It was also from influences and interactions with other persons. I have believed that I am a product of heredity because I have inherit the physical appearance of my parents hence it might be in our bloodline. I have also inherited these traits such as; good quality of voice and ability to play instruments just like my father did. The environment has also a big impact in my well being just like the knowledge and insight that I have adopted from my surroundings. The way I act and the way I talk was a product of both heredity and environment. The way I dress was from my environment because if I don't dress as the other people dresses, I may be called old fashioned. But on the other side my family has been conservative about the way I dress. The environment has a big impact on the way I think, just like how I have been influenced about the ROTC. But somehow, my grandfather was a Military Officer and I believed that I have gotten that trait from hereditary. After all that has been said, I think that we are really different from each other. No matter how similar we may appear to be, there will always be a difference due to the different factors that influence our development as a human. We are all in different environment, surrounded by different people, and we are all have different genetic structures. Some of us doesn’t aim for a certain thing as long as we achieve what matters or is essential for us. Another is I have understand the meaning of personal development. On how it is about how we reflect on ourselves, understand who we are as a person, and learning to improve and develop ourselves into the person that we desired to be.

Module 1: Human Development: Meaning, Concepts and Approaches

From this module, I realized that a human development is a pattern of movement that begins at conception and continues through the life span of a well human being. Also it includes growth and decline. The human development can be positive or negative. Growth deals with quantitative changes while development deals with qualitative changes. Development is relatively orderly.  Development has proximodistal pattern that deals with the development from inward to upward. Another pattern is the cephalocaudal pattern which the development is from head to toe and from top to bottom. Development also takes place gradually.  The pattern of development is more likely be similar, the outcome of development process and the rate of development are vary among individuals.  Development as a process is complex because it is the product of biological, cognitive and socio-emotional process. The biological process is a physical change. The cognitive process is about knowle...

Socio-cultural Theory (Skill (s) I learned)

When I was in Grade 7, I wanted to learn playing instruments, especially the guitar. This skill caught my attention because I think it is cool to play and have the guitar in your hands. Being a singer at a very young age added more urge to this attention. On those days, I think everyone will like and praise me if I had a talent of playing a guitar. Another reason why I want to learn this skill is because my father also plays a guitar very well. Different sounds were produced when he starts to strum the guitar strings. There are also different kind of techniques used to play a guitar and one of this is the fingerstyle which is eventually one of the hardest style to play a guitar. In this very young age, my father assisted me simply by teaching me the basic chords ( D, A, Em, G). At first, it is very hard for me to reach the strings and my hands can feel the pain. But I have this courage to play the guitar everyday just to have the right placement of my fingers so that it will produce a ...
